The first thing to know about this blog is that, while this is my first post, this is not my first blog. I’ve been blogging since I was 16 years old, before people even knew what blogs were. I remember telling people about my Livejournal and their response was always something like, “So it’s like a diary, but on the internet?” It’s kind of right, but a blog is so much more than that. It’s a way to share information and connect with other people. Sometimes it can function like a diary. I’ve met the most wonderful people through my blogs over the years.

I grew up as a military child, so the desire to travel and experience new cultures is kind of ingrained in me. As an adult, it took awhile before I was able to afford travel. The joy of being a social worker! I save regularly, and as a result I am able to travel more – both internationally and throughout the US. My hope is to be able to keep doing this.
I usually travel alone, though I’m trying to be open to the idea of going places with friends. Shared experiences are better experiences, so I’ve been posting about my travels on Facebook. It’s fun to tell my friends, family, and coworkers about the places I go and the things I do. Sometimes they give me advice about cool attractions or delicious foods. Sometimes they’re inspired to go on their own trips. And most of the time it just helps me to not feel so alone. It’s a little bit jarring to be in a foreign country by myself, and sometimes knowing I have an audience on my social media gives me the confidence and drive to move forward.
Combining my love of travel and obsession with blogging seemed inevitable. And so, here we are. I’m looking forward to sharing my adventures and experiences with you.
